| Tonka | ||
|
Aka "Toy Boy" is a real prankster and typical pony. He's part Welsh and about 20 years old, but you'd never know it. He drives like a champ and has taken many placings in Pleasure Driving classes. He also goes English, Western and jumps and has won many a ribbon with students who have shown him over the years. Halter classes are not his favorite, since that requires standing still. In spite of his desire to spend most of his lesson time in the middle of the arena resting, most riders have learned how to outsmart him and treat him as a challenge when they are assigned to him. His grey eyebrows are his most defining characteristic. He has many trail rides and parades under his belt, including the Chicago Jingle Elf and is currently leased by an 8 year old student for practicing and showing.

| Buddy Jade | ||
|
This brave horse has a story on how he came to Double L. Buddy was rescued one day in very bad condition along with his companions with little food and no water. They were eating the wood off the shelter they were kept in. The Jade part of his name came from Lorretta Switt, who was in town buying jewelry when Buddy and his pals were rescued in 1998. She was a big supporter of the rescue group who took him in. He was adopted by a student who then traded him to the farm when she moved out of state. Linda's daughter Amber showed him English, Western and Hunter for 2-3 years. He is also a lesson pony (14.1 hands) and is shown by students, ridden in parades and on trail. He has been in the Chicago Jingle Elf parade for the last 7 years. |

| Just Jaz | ||

'Jaz is a 16 yr old quarter horse and though he is very quiet and smooth to trot in the arena at home, he is a speed horse in disguise. Take him to a show and he's jumping, spinning and raring to go. At home, he is the first horse that each beginner starts on. He has the slow smooth jog and neck reins easily, if the rider does it right. His canter is a little fast, so Tonka and Cherokee are the chosen ones for those learning to canter. He's been in many parades and a few trail rides over the 12 years that we have owned him.

| Little Zim memorial | ||

Zim was a 25 year old registered half arab. He was originally named and trained by a couple who showed him for 3 years and then sold him to a family in Antioch. They showed him on the Arab circuit where he took regional champion English pleasure and equitation horse for several years. When the kids got older, he was retired from the Arab show circuit and then came to us in 1999. A bit of a challenge to saddle up, due to his cinchy problem, he was easy to ride (especially bareback) and loved by many students. They showed him in 4-H and at local open shows, rode him in parades (including the Chicago Xmas), took him on trail rides and had some fun barrel racing a few times. He even did some jumping, clearing the jumps by more than needed! Some of the kids call him 'Wiz', since his name looks like that upside down, but he also had a habit of 'watering' the arena after every lesson! He sadly had to be euthanized on 1/26/10, due to failing health. We will always love and remember him. |

| Cherokee | ||

This paint horse made his way into Amber's heart right away. He was owned by friends whose daughter went to college and had no time for him. Once he was here, she worked him into show shape and they took numerous placings in english, western and showmanship. Then she started taking him on the trail and in parades. He's been in the Chicago Xmas parade twice and really catches your eye. On trails, he just takes it easy so Amber can turn around and chat with her friends as they walk along. He is now used in lessons, since she is busy with work and a business.

| Waggoner D Bar aka Wags | ||
![]() |
Aka "Wags" has a personality of his own. He enjoys a fun chase in the morning. Once you catch him and drag him into the arena, he loves to show off how well he knows his moves ...especially the turn on the forehand. He is a 14 year old red dun Quarter horse gelding. He goes English, Western and jumps. He's also been in many parades, including the Chicago Jingle Elf on Thanksgiving morning. He is boss in his paddock in spite of his girlish whinney, which he uses often in hopes of being fed earlier. He was sold last fall to one of the students who had been leasing him for several years. She is in college, so he is still used in lessons.

| Cimarron aka Cimmi | ||
![]() |
Cimmi was born at the farm a month after we moved in (1999). His mother is the fast arab Retta, shown below. He was raised and trained by Heather and was being used by her on the Renegades drill team. He is used in lessons to earn his keep and has started jumping. He is a lover and a prankster, still acting like a youngster at times. His travels with the drill team included Iowa, Texas and Wisconsin for competitions. The sword in the pirate drill had him on edge, though :-). He is registered half-arab and pinto and has been shown english, jumping and western by Heather and several students. |

| Huricane aka Riki | ||
![]() |
Riki is a registered half-arab and pinto and was born on the farm in 2001 almost 3 weeks early on a cold Feb night! She's a tough one though and came through leaping and jumping. Trained since age 3, she now goes English, Western and jumps. She's been in several shows, parades and on trail rides with Linda. She's still a bit sassy, but is smooth to ride. Linda considers her a higher level horse for more experienced riders because of her training and her occasional silliness. She loves people and attention, but is technically Linda's horse. |

| Flaming Star aka Retta | ||
![]() |
Retta is built for speed and has proven it! She is an 20 year old Arabian mare who is not interested in pleasure showing. Trained and shown by Linda's older daughter Heather, she is a challenge that the experienced students enjoy working up to. She is boss mare in her paddock (and everywhere else she happens to spend time) and keeps a close eye on all that goes on in her domain. In the past several years, she has made her name in the speed world, running poles, barrels and plug like she's on fire! The flag race is just a little too scary, though with those awful flags that might get her if she comes too close. She was bred once and produced a beautiful sorrel pinto by a Paint stallion. Cimarron or Cimmi as Heather named him, is pictured above. |

| D. A. Main Street aka Cirrus | ||
![]() |
A beautiful typey Arabian gelding. Now 15 years old and full of personality. He is used in lessons with intermediate riders, both English and Western. He has been in a couple of parades and several trail rides. His favorite thing is to rub his head on the closest person no matter what size. Of course he is an Arab, so the rider has to watch out for things that are trying to 'grab' him on the way by. He was trained and shown by Linda's daughter Heather. Two other students have shown him also and taken many a ribbon. He is listed for sale on the sale page. |

| Unsinkable Molly Brown | ||
![]() |
A skeptical mare who came from a livery stable and is still a little shy, but learned fast that life at this barn was much easier. She is used in lessons at all levels and has been shown in pleasure and fun classes. She is a great trail and parade horse. She goes English, Western, jumps and even is great at speed. She has been in many parades, including the Chicago Jingle Elf on Thanksgiving morning. We believe that she is part Morgan and is about 20+ years old. One of her best assets is her 'power brakes'. She teaches riders to sit back or they end up on her neck when they ask for a stop. She was sold to a student (for Xmas!) and left in the spring of 2009. |

| Misty Meadow | ||
![]() |
She's a sweet pony who is now 6 years old and was abandoned at the farm as a weanling. Linda raised her and when she was 3, starting training her to ride. Once she was started, the smaller advanced riders were able to take over and put more time on her, turning her into a great pony for someone who likes to run speed, jump, go on trail, parades or even drive. She is pictured on the For Sale page also, since the school is cutting back and Linda would like to see her get a forever home with some great family. Pictured is Eden riding her in the Chicago Xmas parade on Thanksgiving morning. Misty is currently being used in lessons until she is sold. |

| Falina Gold Satin | ||
|
This mare was born at the farm in 2004 and became Misty's pal growing up, since they were the same age. She is registered half Arab and buckskin. She was also trained to ride at age 3, but had a much stronger will and required more advanced riders. Linda worked her for Dressage, but let a sudent try some jumping and trail riding also. She was sold in the fall of 2009 to a young woman in Michigan who loves taking her on the trail after an arena workout. | |
